Mark graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Recreation from West Virginia University and became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) in 1984. Mark first became involved in adaptive skiing in 1987 at Hidden Valley (PA) Resort. His passion for adaptive ski instruction began through his involvement in the Chap-Stick Challenge at Hidden Valley Resort and the National Disabled Ski Championships in Snowmass, CO in 1988. He gained his PSIA Level I Adaptive Ski Instructor certification at the Ski Spectacular in Breckenridge, Colorado in 1990. He went on to achieve his PSIA Level II certification in 1997.
