at a young age, helping her mother with various fundraising events. She did some volunteering in college and, then, during a tour of Courage Center she saw a flier for Adaptive Skiing. That was in the mid-80s and she’s been hooked ever since! After that first ski season, she volunteered in several capacities, but skiing was her favorite.
After returning from Colorado and with a snowboard attached to her car’s roof, she started campaigning that Courage should start an adaptive snowboard program, even joining the Board to plant the idea. She came out to Hartford Ski Spectacular and learned as much as she could from Bobby Palm. Finally, with the help of Todd Strand and Scott Kimmel, they got the snowboard program going. Today, she keeps busy with Courage Kenny Ski and Snowboarding, their adaptive waterskiing and handcycling. She’s also volunteered teaching Adaptive Sailing and as a ski or snowboard instructor for the Veterans Winter Sports Clinic.
