It is evident that COVID-19 has deeply affected the American public, however, the widespread and long-term impacts of the virus on Veterans and VA Staff are more difficult to assess. Wearable biosensors and mobile apps offer readily scalable, low-cost data streams to detect and manage the personal and population effects of COVID-19, both for those directly affected and those who might be. Project Resilience is leveraging these digital health technologies to improve care delivery by addressing the impacts on thousands of Veterans and VA Staff across the country. The personal, cohort, and population data is being used to evaluate how digital health technologies can increase access to care, reduce costs in dollars and time, and improve outcomes across VA medical centers and medical specialties, leading to system-wide change. By focusing on COVID-19 risks and resilience, Project Resilience is examining how digital health solutions more broadly personalize patient-centric care on smartphones with data-driven referrals and clinical decision support.
