White Ribbon VA Portland Stands Up Against Domestic Violence
1 min read
In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program (IPVAP) is pleased to roll out the WHITE RIBBON-VA CAMPAIGN. WHITE RIBBON-VA asks people to proudly wear white ribbons as a sign of their pledge “never to commit, excuse, or stay silent about sexual harassment, sexual assault, or domestic violence against others.” This is a video of our facility Director and others taking the White Ribbon Pledge and proudly wearing a white ribbon to demonstrate their commitment to this very important issue. The idea is to get others to participate and take the pledge!
Background: White Ribbon VA was inspired by the White Ribbon organization which is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end violence against women and girls, and to promote gender equity, healthy relationships, and a new vision of masculinity. Since its inception in Toronto in 1991, the White Ribbon Campaign has spread to over 60 countries around the world, including college campuses, military bases and stations, and within a number of states across the country.
